Grimsby flat murder: Man named as Sheikh Zubair Hamidi
A man who was found dead at a flat in Grimsby has been named by police.
Sheikh Zubair Hamidi, 48, from Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, was found by paramedics at the flat he owned on Freeman Street on Tuesday morning. He was renovating the property at the time of his death.
A post-mortem examination revealed he died from multiple head injuries.
A 28-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody. Police have been granted a further 36 hours to question him.
Humberside Police said Mr Hamidi was of Bangladeshi origin but his murder was not "racially motivated" and they were "keeping an open mind" about why he was killed.
Officers are continuing to search the flat and the rear of the property.
A road closure between the top of Freeman Street and Kent Street has now been lifted and businesses are re-opening but a police presence remains in the area.
The force said it was still appealing for witnesses and asked anyone with information to contact police.
