Grimsby driver arrested after laser aimed at helicopter
A man has been arrested after a laser beam was shone at a police helicopter in North East Lincolnshire.
Humberside Police said they believed the laser had been aimed at the helicopter from the Winchester Avenue area of Grimsby.
A 40-year-old van driver was traced and arrested in the area at about 01:30 BST, a police spokesman said.
Ch Supt Steve Graham said anyone found guilty of "endangering the safety of an aircraft in this way", could be jailed.
"Incidents of this nature can compromise public safety and for that reason police will always deal with such matters as a priority," he said.
The man remains in custody.
