One man has died and two other men have been taken to hospital after an accident at an East Yorkshire port.

Police were called at 07:10 BST to an industrial accident on board the Suntis, a ship berthed at West Dock on Bridge Street, Goole Docks.

Associated British Ports, which owns Goole Docks, said it was working with the relevant authorities.

Police said the investigation was in its early stages but the Health and Safety Executive was involved.

A Humberside Police spokesperson said the men involved are 60, 33 and 38.

None of the men are from the area and the name and age of the man who died will not be released until the dead man's relatives have been informed, police said.

The two men in hospital are in a serious condition in Hull Royal Infirmary.
