Benefits cheat Yvonne Credland gets suspended sentence

A woman who claimed £22,000 in benefits despite having £112,000 gifted to her in an inheritance has been given a suspended jail sentence.

Yvonne Credland, 56, of Main Street, Hotham, East Yorkshire, pleaded guilty to dishonestly claiming council tax benefit and jobseeker's allowance.

Credland was ordered to repay the cash by East Yorkshire Magistrates' Court.

She was given a 16-week sentence, suspended for two years, for claiming the benefits between 2009 and 2013.
