Three people have been arrested after an "unknown substance" was found at a house in Hull.

Properties on Kilnsea Grove, in the east of the city, were evacuated following the alert but most people have since returned to their homes.

Humberside Police said the incident was not thought to be linked to "any terrorist organisations".

A 15-year-old boy, a 49-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man are being held in police custody.

A force spokesman said the substances had been made safe and were being examined.

Det Insp Jason Gourley said: "The evacuation was necessary in order to ensure every local resident was safe during the investigation, which was our top priority.

"I would like to reassure members of the public that we believe this is an isolated incident and we don't believe this incident is connected to any terrorist organisations."
