Hull Rugby League Football Cub has opened a book of condolence for former player and charity fund-raiser Steve Prescott.

Mr Prescott, who played for Hull FC, St Helens and Wakefield and for England and Ireland, died of a rare form of stomach cancer on Saturday.

The 39-year-old, who retired in 2004, had been diagnosed with pseudomyxoma peritonei in 2006.

The book is available for fans to pay tribute at Hull FC's KC stadium shop.

Supporters of Hull FC are also being encouraged to tweet tributes to the club's official account.

A selection of the comments will be placed on a special memorial page on the club's website.

After he was diagnosed with cancer, he established the Steve Prescott Foundation in 2007, which has raised more than £500,000.

He was appointed an MBE in 2009.

A club spokesman said fans could contribute to the book at the stadium shop between 09:00 and 17:00 GMT each weekday.

The shop would also be open from 09:00 to 17:00 each Saturday unless Hull City were playing, when the doors would close at 15:00.
