Police have named an 82-year-old man who was killed when his car was involved in a crash with two tractors in North Lincolnshire.

James Thompson, of North Kelsey, died after his Volvo was in collision with the farm vehicles in Howsham on Friday.

Mr Thompson's 70-year-old wife, who was a passenger in the car, suffered minor seat belt injuries, a Humberside Police spokesman said.

The two tractor drivers were treated for shock but were uninjured.

Both tractors were towing trailers, one with agricultural machinery on and the other carrying hay bales.

Police said the collision occurred as the vehicles were passing one another.

The road was closed for about six hours after the crash.
