Funeral of Hull man Stuart Gilson, found in estuary

The funeral of a Hull man whose body was found in the Humber Estuary after he went missing on a night out has taken place.

Stuart Gilson's body was discovered on the River Humber's north bank between Brough Haven and Gilberdyke on 10 March.

Mr Gilson, 21, of Annandale Road, had been missing since a night out in January.

Police said his death was not suspicious.

Hundreds of people took part in unofficial searches for him co-ordinated on Facebook.

Tributes were left by family and friends on Drypool Bridge, where he was last seen on CCTV on 28 January.

More than 300 people attended the funeral at Hull's Chanterlands Avenue Cemetery.

Father Pat Day, who conducted the funeral service, said: "It's nice to think that all these people not just followed him on Facebook, not just followed him for that short period of time when he was missing, but they were prepared to come back today."
