X Factor Australia win for Scunthorpe's Reece Mastin

A teenager from North Lincolnshire has been crowned the winner of the Australian version of The X Factor.

Reece Mastin, 16, moved to Australia from Scunthorpe six years ago.

His relatives in the town have been following his fortunes and hosted a party while they watched the grand final on Tuesday morning.

Reece will now release his first single, Good Night. His uncle Sam Stark said: "He's won! It's amazing, absolutely amazing."

Mr Stark added: "We have a friend in Australia and she Skyped us and we watched it live as it was coming through on her telly.

"It's absolutely brilliant."

During the contest Reece got a standing ovation for his duet with Kylie Minogue.

Speaking before the final, the teenager, who lives in Greenwith, South Australia, said he was eight when he decided he wanted to be a singer.

He said: "I did a school thing and was singing Robbie Williams. It's something I love doing."

Reece lists Aerosmith's Steven Tyler as his idol.

"He's been doing it for 40 years. That's what I want to do. He's amazing,"

He said taking part in the programme had been the "best eight months of my whole life".

Addressing his fans on his Facebook page, he added: "I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity to do what I love and to work with some amazing people.

"Most of all I would like to thank you all for your love and support."
