Beverley celebrates Armed Forces Day

A Tiger Moth aeroplane fly-past and poetry readings marked Armed Forces Day in Beverley, in the East Riding.

The work of servicemen and women was celebrated with a parade through the town.

Music was provided by the Prince of Wales' Division band, the Humberside Police concert band and Beverley District pipe band.

Councillor David Elvidge, who chairs the organising committee, said there was strong support for the forces.

"I think to a man we really do support our armed forces.

"We try not to get political on it, we support what our armed forces do for us."

Many towns and cities in the UK marked the event on 25 June, with Edinburgh acting as official host city.
