Two men have been arrested after a woman's body was found in a drainage ditch in Hull.

A passer-by flagged down a police patrol car after seeing a body floating in the Holderness Drain off Marfleet Lane on Monday morning.

A body, believed to be a local woman in her 50s, was recovered from the drain close to Preston Road Bridge.

The men are aged 54 and 60. Police are treating the death as suspicious. The scene remains cordoned off.

An address on Staveley Road, Hull, has also been cordoned off in connection with the incident.

The woman has not been formally identified and a post-mortem examination was taking place on Monday afternoon.
