Medal honour for Hull-based Afghanistan soldiers
Serving Territorial Army troops from a Hull-based unit have been presented with medals after returning from a six-month tour of Afghanistan.
Members of the 150 Transport Regiment, The Royal Logistics Corps, were awarded the Afghanistan Operational Service Medal by the Lord Mayor of Hull.
The soldiers supported patrols in Helmand Province, and were tasked with ensuring they were fully equipped.
Their families also attended the medal presentation at the Guildhall in Hull.
Commanding officer Lt Col John Connelly said: "Throughout the tour the troops have shown true professionalism and extreme courage and bravery during contact with the insurgents."
On Saturday the troops took part in a 1,000km (620-mile) run at the Humber Bridge to raise money for charity.
A regimental spokesman said it hoped the sponsored run would raise "a significant amount" for the Royal British Legion, Parkinson's UK and the Alzheimer's Research Trust.
