Man, 43, held in murder inquiry in East Yorkshire

A murder inquiry has started in East Yorkshire after a woman died outside a property in Driffield.

The 40-year-old local woman was injured in an alleged assault outside the address on Clematis Close on Wednesday.

Police attended at 1750 BST. Detectives said the woman died at the scene at 1840 BST.

Officers arrested a 43-year-old Grimsby man at the scene and he was taken into police custody for questioning.

Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, but were appealing for witnesses.

The close, in a quiet part of the town, is made up of semi-detached homes.

A police cordon surrounded the house and a white forensic tent was in place on the property's front driveway as officers carried out their investigation.
