Lightning damages train signals near Ledbury

Severe weather caused disruption on rail services around Hereford.

A lightning strike between Hereford and Ledbury damaged signals and prevented trains running to Great Malvern, in Worcestershire.

Train operator London Midland said its services to Birmingham New Street were affected.

Buses were put on between Hereford and Great Malvern, but National Rail Enquiries said the line had now reopened.

Several flood alerts were also issued for Herefordshire and Worcestershire including on Barbourne Brook and the River Stour.
