A 20-year-old man from Birmingham has been charged with murder after a man was assaulted at a Worcestershire pub.

John Parkinson, 50, from Alvechurch, was attacked at the Red Lion Inn in the village on Saturday and died later in hospital.

Police said the man would appear before Redditch magistrates on Thursday.

Two other men and a woman, all in their 20s, were arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice on Tuesday, the spokesman added.

Both men have been released on bail until 28 February pending further inquiries. The woman remains in custody.

A woman arrested on Sunday on suspicion of assisting an offender has also been bailed until the same date, police added.
