Worcester throne shipped to Palace of Versailles
An 18th Century throne, normally on display in Worcester, is being transferred to the Palace of Versailles in France for a new exhibition.
The throne, made in 1783 for the French Embassy in London, will appear in a Thrones in Majesty exhibition, one of 50 in the world to do so.
The throne can usually be seen at the Guildhall and will return in June.
Guildhall manager Richard Wickham said he was delighted it would be seen by an international audience.
Little is known about how the throne was used between 1783 and 1870, when it was donated to Worcester by Mrs Lea Smith.
