New leader replaces sex inquiry councillor

A new leader has been elected at Worcestershire County Council after the former leader resigned amid allegations of inappropriate behaviour.

Dr George Lord quit as leader and Conservative councillor after separate allegations were made that he had acted inappropriately towards staff.

A by-election, for the Alvechurch ward, will be held on 16 December, the council has said.

Conservative councillor Adrian Hardman is the new council leader.
