A teenage girl had to be rescued after getting stuck in mud in a tidal estuary.

The 15-year-old became trapped in Southampton Water off Hythe, Hampshire, on Saturday shortly after 15:00.

Coastguard teams from Southampton and Lymington worked with a lifeboat crew from Calshot and firefighters from three stations to release her.

The girl, who was not seriously injured, was left in the care of the ambulance service.
