Two people arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was shot and critically injured have been released on police bail.

The 34-year-old suffered "life-changing" head injuries on Monday in Waterlooville, Hampshire, police said.

They have bailed a 37-year-old man and a woman aged 38 until 28 April pending further inquiries.

Hampshire detectives said the shooting "may relate to the supply of drugs in the area".

They renewed an appeal for anyone who heard a gunshot in Athena Avenue shortly before 01:00 GMT on Monday to come forward.

Officers including armed police arrested the two suspects at about 02:25 GMT the same morning at an address in High Lawn Way, Havant, two miles away.

A 31-year-old woman was later arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and remains in police custody.

The victim remains in hospital in a "serious" condition, police said.
