Three held after man attacked by burglars

Three men are being held after a man in his 60s was assaulted by intruders at his home in Hampshire.

Police said the house in Lymington Bottom, Four Marks, was burgled at about 12:40 GMT on Saturday in what was believed to be a "targeted incident".

Three men entered the house and attacked the homeowner, who activated a panic alarm. The intruders drove away.

The arrested men, aged 31, 20 and 18 and from Manchester, are being held on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

The homeowner sustained bruising to his head, but nothing was taken.

Det Con Tom Prutz said: "This appears to be a targeted incident which took place during in daylight hours.

"I would appeal to anyone in the area around the time of the incident who may have seen what happened, or saw a vehicle being driven away at speed, to contact us."
