Hayling Island caravan fire leaves one in hospital

A man has been taken to hospital after a fire in a caravan at a holiday park on Hayling Island.

The blaze, which completely destroyed the static caravan at the Parkdean Holiday Park in Manor Road, broke out shortly before 21:15 GMT on Sunday.

The man was taken to hospital suffering the effects of inhaling smoke but his condition is unknown.

Residents in a number of caravans nearby were led to safety by fire crews while gas cylinders were cooled down.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire was not yet known.
