Man charged with attempted kidnap of schoolgirl in Portsmouth
A man has been charged with the attempted kidnap of a schoolgirl with the intent to commit a sexual offence.
The 14-year-old girl was followed along Kent Road, Portsmouth, on Wednesday afternoon by a man who tried to repeatedly stop and talk to her.
The accused, a 41-year-old man of no fixed address, has also been charged with possession of a "bladed article".
He was remanded in custody by magistrates to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on 7 November.
Hampshire Constabulary has urged parents to remain vigilant and to remind their children about the danger of talking to strangers.
