The wife of a man who died in a crash on the Isle of Wight has described him as a practical joker who "always carried a cheeky grin".

Jonathan Legge, 46, of Kings Road, East Cowes, died in the two-vehicle crash on Whippingham Road on 1 March.

Pam Legge, who had separated from her husband, said it was a "huge loss".

A 44-year-old man, who was driving the Land Rover that crashed with Mr Legg's Corsa, remains in hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

Mrs Legge said her estranged husband, known as "Leggy" to his friends in Australia where they had lived together, held family and friends "close to his heart".

"He always carried a cheeky grin and when he appeared you always knew there was a funny story to be told or practical joke to be had," she added.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
