Cyclist hit and hurt by police car in Southampton

A cyclist suffered head injuries when she was hit by a police car in Southampton.

The 40-year-old woman was taken to hospital following the crash near Dukes Road. Her injuries were not thought to be serious.

Hampshire Police said the collision happened on Thomas Lewis Way at about 00:40 GMT.

The officer, who was not responding to an emergency at the time, and his passenger, were uninjured, police said.

It said its Professional Standards Department had been informed. Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact officers.
