Man charged with Southsea New Year's Day murder

A man has been charged with the murder of a 27-year-old found dead in Portsmouth on New Year's Day.

The body of Christopher Butler was found at a flat in Waverley Road, Southsea, at about 12:25 GMT.

Brendon Michael Willis, 32, of no fixed address, has now been charged with his murder and will appear at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Two other men, aged 29 and 48, both from Southsea, have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A man, 33, and a woman, 23, both from Portsmouth, also arrested on suspicion of murder have been bailed.
