Paul Humphries denies Southampton street stab murder

A man has denied stabbing a 70-year-old man to death in Southampton.

John Willdig, of Nelson Road, Southampton, died in hospital after being discovered injured in Morris Road on 23 June.

Paul Humphries, 35, from Morris Road, pleaded not guilty to murder at Winchester Crown Court earlier.

He was remanded in custody ahead of his trial, which was provisionally set for 1 October and is expected to last three weeks.

A post-mortem examination revealed Mr Willdig died from multiple stab wounds.
