Injured horse found in Hampshire field after 'attack'

A horse has been found with cuts and bruising in a field in Hampshire after a possible attack, police have said.

The owner found her injured animal in Ropley on Saturday. The horse was treated by a vet and is recovering.

Countrywatch officer PC John Radcliffe said police were investigating whether the horse was attacked but stressed such incidents were "very rare".

He added: "We take reports such as this seriously. It is important to establish whether a crime has taken place."

The injuries are believed to have been sustained sometime between 18:00 BST on Friday and Saturday morning.
