A driver who died when his car hit a tree and caught fire has been named by police.

Vastra Odedra, 29, had recently moved to Lymington, Hampshire, where the crash happened.

A tribute by his wife Shanti said they had moved to the area two months ago from Leicester after he was appointed postmaster at Lymington Post Office.

"His dream had been to run his own post office and he had finally managed to realise his dream," Mrs Odedra said.

Mr Odedra died at the scene on the A337 Milford Road near Lymington on 29 May.

'Branch-modernising plans'

Emergency crews found his Volvo saloon still on fire in a ditch beside the road when they were called shortly after 03:00 BST.

Mrs Odedra said her husband had been on a trip back from visiting friends in London.

"He was a kind, friendly person and made friends wherever he went," she said.

A Post Office spokeswoman said the company offered its "heartfelt condolences" and that Mr Odedra "had exciting plans to modernise the branch".

The branch was due to close earlier for a two-week refurbishment but this has been put on hold "for the time being".

Mr Odedra's funeral will be held in Leicester on Friday.
