A lost holidaying couple in their 60s had to be rescued after getting stuck in a bog for an hour in the New Forest.

The man and woman from Yorkshire were airlifted to safety on Thursday night after 20 firefighters used specialist equipment to free them from the mud.

Firefighters said the couple "found themselves stuck in boggy ground" near Burley and were lucky to have a mobile phone signal.

Police said to be "wary" of unfamiliar paths because of the saturated ground.
