Man charged over Brockenhurst ambulance crash deaths

A man has been charged in connection with a collision in the New Forest which killed a paramedic and a patient in an ambulance.

Gillian Randall, 42, who was driving the ambulance, and 88-year-old patient Francis Ironside were killed when the ambulance hit a tree in April.

The crash happened on the A337 Brockenhurst to Lyndhurst road.

Richard Husband, 26, from Brockenhurst, has been charged with two counts of causing death by careless driving.

He has been bailed to appear before Southampton Magistrates' Court on 15 November.

A crew member and a relative of the patient, who were both travelling in the back of the ambulance, sustained serious injuries.
