Hampshire man held over abduction attempts released without charge

A man arrested on suspicion of two attempted child abductions in Hampshire has been released without charge.

Police held a 49-year-old man from Havant following incidents in Havant on Tuesday afternoon and Emsworth on Wednesday morning.

A man tried to grab a 12-year-old girl in Leigh Park and an 11-year-old boy in Southleigh Road.

The boy and girl were described as being "understandably shaken" but "not harmed in any way".

Hampshire police said their investigation was continuing and renewed their appeal for information.

Both children described the man as having tanned skin, wearing jeans and boots and being in his 40s or 50s.

The girl said he had a northern accent and had a recent scratch on his left cheek, while the boy said he had got out of a red van before grabbing him.
