Southampton city trams on the move to new museum

Two of Southampton's old municipal trams have been moved through the city to the new £8m Aeronautica museum.

Trams 38 and 11 were moved by lorry from Southampton City Council's Heritage Collection to the museum's workshop where they will be fully restored.

After the restoration, it is hoped the trams can go on display to the public at the new museum's dockside site.

The last tram ran in the city in 1950 and most were scrapped afterwards. However, a few were sold as private sheds or summerhouses which led to their preservation.
