Villagers swap their cars for electric bikes

Help

Twenty residents from a Hampshire village have signed up for a national trial to give up their cars and use electric bikes instead.

The volunteers in Medstead will use the 'ebikes' which have a range of 50 miles for three months.

The cyclists will record their journeys before passing it on to the next volunteer.

A dozen regular bicycles have also been put in the village for communal use.

The initiative has been organised by the Campaign to Protect Rural England who hope to roll the bikes out throughout the UK as a sustainable transport solution.
