A man has been stabbed to death in a Dorset town.

Police were called to an address in Wimborne Road, Bournemouth, after reports of a disturbance at 0220 GMT.

The man, aged in his 20s and from Bournemouth, suffered a wound to his chest and died at the scene.

Five men, aged between 20 and 33, were arrested on suspicion of murder and are being questioned. Two of the arrested men were taken to hospital with head injuries.

Police closed off Malvern Road in both directions while investigations were carried out.

Resident Kevin Barton, of nearby Hillcrest Close, said the area was usually quiet.

"It's tragic, I just hope it's not someone I know," he told the BBC.

"Part of the reason we moved here is because it is really safe and nice."

Detectives said investigations were at an early stage and they were appealing for witnesses.
