Man killed by car after night out in Portsmouth

A 22-year-old man has died after being knocked down while walking home after a night out with friends in Portsmouth.

The man was struck in Park Road, close to the city centre, by a vehicle just after midnight. He died in hospital.

A driver of a Mini, a 24-year-old woman from Fareham, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A 23-year-old male Ford Focus driver was later arrested on suspicion of the same offence and failing to stop.

The road was closed until Sunday morning to allow police to investigate.

They are appealing for witnesses and information.
