A pony has been found dead with its rear legs bound together near an electrical substation in Berkshire.
Police said the animal was found by a passer-by in Wantage Road, Great Shefford, on Saturday.
The pony was young and about 11 hands high. It was white with light brown markings and a long coat so it most likely lived outdoors, police added.
It had been left by the entrance of a small electrical substation and tyre tracks were left on Farringdon Road.
Pc Kirsten Goodfield said: "The witness believes that this incident could have occurred between 12.20pm and 1.15pm.
"There were tyre marks leading away from the track that turned left onto the Farringdon Road, so there is a possibility that the offender came from south Oxfordshire."
