Woman dies after lay-by crash near Petersfield

A Hampshire woman who was badly injured in a car crash has died.

Annette Groves, 34, from Liphook, was a passenger in a BMW which hit a Leyland DAF goods vehicle parked in a lay-by, at 1320 GMT on 2 November.

She was airlifted to hospital after the crash, on the B2070 at Sheet, near Petersfield, where she died on Monday.

The male BMW driver, 54, was arrested on suspicion of driving in excess of the alcohol limit and driving dangerously and bailed until February.

A 46-year-old woman and a 14-year-old boy, who were also passengers inside the BMW, were unhurt.

The driver of the van, a 29-year-old man from Petersfield, received minor injuries and was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham.
