Man injured in unprovoked attack in Basingstoke


A man suffered injuries to his face, arms and hands in a "prolonged and unprovoked" attack in Hampshire.

The victim, aged in his 20s, was walking near a children's play area behind an Asda supermarket in Brighton Hill Park, Basingstoke, between 1830 and 1850 GMT on Friday.

He was threatened by two men who were with two other people and then attacked for about 15 minutes.

They stole a number of items. The man was taken to hospital for treatment.

A wallet, bank cards, watch and Nokia phone, which was later recovered, were taken.

The first attacker is described as a white man, 6ft (1.83m), aged 18 to 20 and slim, with blonde hair. He was wearing a bright-coloured hooded top.

The second offender is described as a white man, slim, aged 18 to 20, with dark brown short hair and he was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top.
