Elderly pedestrian dies after Gosport 4x4 collision

An elderly pedestrian has died after being knocked down by a 4x4 vehicle in Hampshire.

The 89-year-old man was crossing South Street in Gosport when he was hit by the Mitsubishi on Saturday afternoon.

He was taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, where he later died.

The Mitsubishi driver, a 41-year-old man from Fareham, was not injured in the collision. Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
