Gang threatens to stab baby in Southampton park
A gang of four youths threatened to stab a woman's baby in Southampton unless she handed over money.
The 37-year-old woman was pushing the baby in a buggy through Thornhill Park when four youths jumped out from nearby bushes.
One youth threatened the baby and raised his hand so the mother could see he had something up his sleeve. She handed over her purse and they ran off.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack on Thursday afternoon.
The youths are all described as being about 16 years old and between 5ft 7in and 5ft 9in.
Three were described as being white and of medium build. Two of them had blue eyes.
The other youth was described as being slim, of mixed race, with curly black hair.
Pc Gemma Boyle said regular patrols were being carried out and appealed for residents with private CCTV in the area to get in touch.
"It's unusual even for criminals to stoop as low as threatening to stab a baby," she said.
An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and later released on bail until November.
