Man held after Portsmouth boy dies in 'hit-and-run'

A man has been arrested over the death of a seven-year-old boy who was dragged 55m (60yds) along a London road underneath a van.

Ehsaan Haque, of Portsmouth, Hampshire, suffered fatal injuries when he was hit after getting out of his uncle's car in Ilford, east London, on 28 July.

He was in a critical condition with multiple wounds and died at Southampton General Hospital on 10 August.

A 28-year-old man remains in custody at an east London police station.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said officers had recovered the blue Toyota Hiace Powervan involved in the incident from Collier Row in Romford.

Ehsaan was hit as he visited relatives in Leyswood Drive.
