A woman was indecently assaulted twice by the same man as she walked home alone in Southampton.

The 20-year-old victim was walking along Howard Road, in Shirley, early on Sunday when she was approached by a man from behind and attacked.

He walked off but is seen about 20 minutes later on CCTV hiding behind a billboard in front of the woman.

He crossed the road and said "how are you doing?" before assaulting her again before she managed to fight him off.

Pc Michael Connolly, from Shirley CID, said: "The victim was obviously left extremely traumatised by this incident, particularly as the suspect chose to assault her in a main high street and was not put off by other members of the public who may have been walking or driving past.

"We would especially like to trace two women who can be seen walking an Alsatian type dog past Shirley police station just prior to the incident taking place."
