A new flood-rescue boat has been bought for a Gloucestershire-based charity following a year of fundraising.

Sara Rescue 16, is based at Tewkesbury fire station and replaces a craft which was taken out of service in March 2015 deemed "not fit for purpose".

The dedication and launch ceremony was hosted by the High Sheriff of Gloucestershire, Lady Bathurst.

Half of the £21,000 needed came from a grant from Tewkesbury Borough Council, the remainder through donations.

Sara Rescue 16 will allow the Severn Area Rescue Association (Sara) charity to respond to water rescue call-outs in all conditions, both in the local area and across the UK.
