'Illegal immigrants' flee from lorry in Gloucestershire

Twelve people have been arrested on suspicion of immigration offences after they were seen running from the back of a lorry in Gloucestershire.

It follows reports that up to 19 people fled from a vehicle in the Arlingham area, near Frampton-on-Severn, on Thursday afternoon.

Gloucestershire Police said a group of people, all male, would be handed over to Home Office immigration officials.

Officers are still searching for other members of the group.

A police spokesman said they also wanted to trace the lorry and its driver.

They said it is believed the vehicle had an Irish number plate, and the driver was white and aged about 35-40.
