No charges will be brought over a suspicious package found at a car parts firm in Gloucester, which closed surrounding businesses for four hours.

A man was arrested when the package was found in a car near Motorhog in Empire Way on 5 June.

A controlled explosion was carried out by the Army's bomb disposal unit.

The arrested man, from Bradley Stoke, has been released without charge after it emerged the device was "harmless", Avon and Somerset Police said.

A Gloucestershire police spokesman said: "This was a very fast moving incident which involved the deployment of considerable resources from the emergency services, and severe disruption to the local area."
