Footbridge installed at near-miss rail crossing

A footbridge has been installed over a railway where there have been four near-misses on a level crossing in the past five years.

The new bridge, at Downfield and Beards Lane in Stroud, is close to Marling School and will cross a busy line which is currently being expanded.

The firm said some 1,500 children used the previous crossing.

Last year 10 people were killed at UK level crossings, and there were 10 collisions between trains and vehicles.
