A coroner has recorded an open verdict on the death of a student who was found in the River Frome in Gloucestershire.

Post-mortem tests failed to establish how 20-year-old George Ford died, Gloucestershire Coroner's Court heard.

The inquest was told he had been using cannabis and had bought an anti-anxiety drug over the internet before he died in December 2012.

Police divers found his body on 20 December. An open verdict was recorded on the Nottingham University student.

Coroner Tom Osborne said the cause of Mr Ford's death and the circumstances leading to it could not be confirmed.
