image captionA rare collection of vintage prints which include images of Che Guevara and Fidel Castro, including this famous photograph of Castro taken in the mountains in 1962, has been sold for £33,000 at an auction in Gloucestershire.
image captionThe 55 original photographs were taken by Alberto Korda, known as Castro's personal photographer, in the 1950s and 1960s and show the Cuban leader and Marxist Guevara relaxing, playing golf and fishing
image captionThe large prints, made available by his daughter Norka Korda from her personal collection, include this image of Castro at the Bronx Zoo in 1959 which was published in Life magazine under the headline 'One Tiger Looks Another Tiger in the Eye'.
image captionSigned and stamped by the Cuban photographer, the collection is "essentially photographs Norka picked or was given by her father from the early 1960s until his death in Paris in 2001," said Chris Albury from Dominic Winter Auctioneers.
image captionNon-political prints were also included in the Thursday sale. This photograph of a girl with a wooden doll taken in 1959 was, according to the auctioneers, Korda's favourite photograph and was "never the famous photograph of Che Guevara, that he considered a bit of luck".
image captionThe 30 lots that sold, including this photograph of Che Guevara talking to philosophers Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir, had been estimated to reach a total of £50,000.
image captionBut despite the auction house selling seven signed Korda photographs for £30,000 in total in 2010, only two thirds of the collection was sold for a total of £33,000.
image captionMr Albury said he expected further bids for the prints which failed to sell in the next few days. This image shows an anti-aircraft gun installed along the sea front in Havana, Cuba.
image captionRevolutionary leader Che Guevara (1928-1967) met Fidel Castro in 1955 and four years later played a key role in his guerrilla war against Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista, leading to Castro taking over power in Cuba. This portrait of Che Guevara was sold for £1,000.
