A topping out ceremony has been held to mark a milestone in the £20m revamp of a Cheltenham shopping arcade.

Construction company Wilmott Dixon has reached the highest point of the build at the redevelopment of Regent's Arcade in the town.

Gloucestershire County Council representatives and dignitaries, including the Lord Lieutenant of Gloucester, attended the ceremony.

Work began in March 2012 and is expected to be completed in May.

The revamp will introduce a new H&M store to the town, an expanded River Island store and a Bath stone facade around the main entrance.

There are currently over 60 shops in the arcade as well as six restaurants and cafes and over 500 parking spaces.
