Pedestrian dies after being hit by lorry on M5

A man has died after being hit by a lorry on the northbound carriageway of the M5 in Gloucestershire, police said.

The pedestrian, who is believed to be in his late 40s, was hit between junction 10 for Cheltenham and junction 9 for Tewkesbury on Tuesday evening.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Gloucestershire Police are appealing for witnesses.

The motorway was closed northbound between junctions 11 and 9 for more than six hours but has now reopened.
